Position Description

The Bridge Partnership is an initiative facilitated by Bridgewater State University, to provide academic and enrichment activities for students enrolled in grade 7 at Roosevelt Middle School in New Bedford, MA, East, North, and South Middle Schools in Brockton, and a Middle School in Boston. Two groups of 100 students will reside in East Hall to participate in separate on-campus sessions from Sunday, July 10 to Friday, July 22; and Sunday, July 24 to Friday, August 5, 2016.

The Lead Program Assistant facilitates the day to day activities and supervises the Program Assistants. The Lead PA’s are responsible for knowing the whereabouts of all the Program Assistants and their teams, at all times during duty hours as well as the day to day schedule.


• Supervise 30 Program Assistants and their teams.
• Work with administration and Program Assistants
• Directly communicate with external constituents/ sponsors and serve as liaison for the Partnership
• Ensure the safety the PA’s that of the students during all activities and movement to the various locations
• Serve as primary contact for program needs on assigned shift, in the absence of program coordinator.
• Supervise a variety of events such as game night, club meetings and other planned activities.
• Perform mediation between the Program Assistants and/or students
• Actively complies with all rules and regulations established for the Partnership
• Assign tasks and schedule for PA’s and maintain notes and records of day to day activities
• Report behavior and other problems immediately to the Program coordinator

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and know when to request assistance
• Demonstrates leadership abilities and responsibility skills
• Demonstrates good organizational and communication skills
• Demonstrates professional behavior supportive of leading and counseling others
• Is patient, enthusiastic, self-controlled, and dependable
• Understand the process of filling incident reports and following up with supervisor
• Understand the process of chain of command
• Knowledgeable of all policies and rules and assist in enforcement
• Ability to work closely, cooperatively, and amicably with all staff members
• Encourage cooperation, teamwork, and participation for all the teams
• Experience working with the Bridge Partnership Program
• Experience working with school-aged youth
• Has held leadership roles on or off campus
