Position Description

The Information Security Analyst Graduate Assistant position provides experience in the daily operations of the Information Security Office while enhancing the graduate’s skills, knowledge, and abilities while obtaining experience in Information Technology. This position’s key roles will be to assist the Information Technology Division with analysis of risk within the context of threats, vulnerabilities, impact, exposure, and suitable countermeasures. The Graduate Assistant will learn valuable skills that can be applied in any workplace environment and will report directly to the Information Security Manager.

The Graduate Assistant Information Security Analyst will create documentation, investigate new technologies to increase cyber security resilience and/or decrease operational costs of the University, automate tasks by creating programs and scripts, conduct vulnerability assessments of software applications and technologies, perform routine audits, and will support the University’s initiatives of Diversity and Social Justice.

A successful candidate has a positive and optimistic attitude, willingness to learn, and demonstrates patience when working with diverse constituency groups across campus.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous technical experience
Familiarity with server and client operating systems
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to extrapolate significance from large data sets
