The Department of Sociology at Bridgewater State University provides a strong liberal arts curriculum aimed at developing well-rounded, informed citizens with strong critical thinking abilities.

Essential Duties

The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Sociology Department to begin September, 2018.

Successful candidates will be expected to complement existing strengths in the department by teaching undergraduate courses including Sociology of Education, Social Data Analysis, Introduction to Sociology, Social Theory, courses and core curriculum courses; advising students; participating in departmental activities such as program review and curriculum development; fostering departmental efforts to enhance the teaching and learning of sociology through technology, departmental committee work, service learning, internships and research opportunities. Additional specialties are open.

Required Qualifications

An earned PhD in Sociology with a focus on the Sociology of Education by September 1, 2018

Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses.

Ability to teach Social Data Analysis
